The Arnold House consistently receives high praise for its exceptional staff, warm hospitality, and idyllic setting in the Catskills. Guests rave about the personalized attention, comfortable accommodations, and a variety of activities – from the tavern and pool to hiking trails and event planning – making it an ideal destination for both romantic getaways and large family gatherings. Several reviews mention its suitability for weddings and extended stays.
Family July 4th weekend away. 15 adults and some kids. We took 8 rooms. 4 in the main house and the whole garden house which was great for the couples with kids. Will, John and all the staff were amazing. Any thing we needed was taken care of immediately. The food and drink service at the pool was an extra perk. Will definitely stay again. We can’t thank the Arnold staff enough for a special weekend.
Out entire extended family just had a beautiful stay at The Arnold House. My score is a 5 stars but the math is not mathing? The management and service are 10 stars not 5. The leaders Will and John along with the entire team is outstanding! Nothing is too much and everything seems effortless at least to us. The pool is new and beautiful. And they had continuous waiter service serving Italian Negronis or something else my nephew picked up on his last trip to Italy. What a beautiful pool and setting. It really was pastoral. There was also a big yard for the kids to run and they even hired a bubble man to entertain the kids one day. Plus the breakfast was a step ahead of most American hotels. Berries along with quiche goes a long way. Our party of 20 of all ages had ample places to sit eat and relax. The breakfast dining room also served as a game room which will be appreciated by the older kids and adults as well. Ok now the rest. The dinners needed improvement but once again the service was great warm and friendly . Management can contact me to discuss if they would like to my son with his family had a lovely studio with a barrel sauna in the back! The bathroom was renovated very nice. My kid room was a nice size but we would have loved to have a renovated bathroom too! Overall 5 stars and highly recommended!
I recently dined at the Arnold House when visiting the area. I went on a Wednesday and it was POPPIN! There was live music that definitely just added to the cozy vibe that the restaurant already carries. The burger was highly recommended and so that’s what I went with and I truly can’t remember the last time I had a burger so delicious ? The chef, Dante, really knows what he’s doing! After eating, my party and I played a game of pool, we definitely had a great time. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!
Short version: It’s great do it. Will, John and Laurie will make you feel completely taken care of, it’s peaceful and you never have to leave the property if you want an isolated weekend with the tavern on site. Plenty of breweries and stuff to do very close if you want to explore. Long version: If you’re coming to the Arnold house you’re looking for an experience that lets you feel relaxed, unplugged and as if you’re staying at your friends private property on the Catskills. Maybe like us you’re looking for a place that you can bring your dog stress free without any worries about having to split time without them. For us it was a bit of it all of that but we booked this to celebrate our dog Gracie being cancer free. Unfortunately it turned into a lets recover from another surgery trip. I’m writing this review yes because it’s true but because they made a tough weekend for us incredibly warm and just what we needed. So needless to say, we couldn’t have asked for a better place in every way to get away , feel taken care of while getting to enjoy some peace with our recovering pup. The property consists of a small intimate campus that includes and onsite tavern with way higher class cocktails and food that you’d expect from a more rustic style place. There’s a sauna on site you can book. Will and John are easy to communicate with and will handle any room needs you have while also handling the complimentary breakfast, various snacks like great cookies (still waiting on that popcorn Saturday though will ??), delivering ice or an ordered cheese plate. again the overall vibe is rustic but if you’re looking at this spot you already know that. Comfy bed, beautiful grounds, peaceful greenhouse, heated pool, sauna, privacy, waking & hiking trails, pretty much exactly what you want.
I really can’t say enough about this place; my fiance and I had a very relaxing, birthday celebration weekend back in November, a reprieve from the five children at home and a way to reconnect. Not only was our room (Shandlee Post Loft overlooking their gorgeous gardens, with a private entrance, large office area and incredible bathroom) ridiculously spacious, but this ‘country retreat’ is located in such a cute, quaint, rustic and laid back spot on the map, with the vibe and decor to match. We loved just sitting by the fire, morning (coffee), noon (break), or night (cocktail) and soaking in all the property had to offer, even in the approaching winter months. The staff there is warm, pleasant and inviting, and when our massage services hit a snag in planning our second day there, they more than upped the ante by getting us in that day, at a neighboring sister location, with all the accommodations and then some. They made it right, and their efforts didn’t go unnoticed, plus that little redirect allowed us to navigate parts of the surrounding towns that we might not have otherwise explored. I’d say lemons into limoncello on that one! The restaurant located on premise (The Tavern) is on the lower floor of the same building where you check in, and right next to other cool amenities for larger gatherings, events and weddings. They’re only open for dinner on the weekdays, but it was THE PERFECT way to end our long day of travel and fully immerse ourselves in the fireside weekend we were about to embark on. The Foster Group, which they are included in, seems to gravitate towards each of their four major properties supplying a slightly different experience for their guests, with top-notch service and care. They’re all located in the same general vicinity, cutting through Livingston Manor, with the furthest gap being about a half hour between properties and in general creating a nice loop. We were able to drive by Kenoza Lake, enjoy the multitude of services at Hemlock Neversink and even have dinner at the DeBruce, so it makes for a fun, mini-bucket list Catskills road trip. Even worked our way into the S’mores Perks Club! So grateful for this experience.
We return to Arnold’s House year after year, and somehow each stay is even better than the last. The staff is truly exceptional—so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. From the moment we walk in, they make us feel right at home. It’s always such a joy to be recognized at the door, and we’re consistently touched by the thoughtful, personalized touches—whether it’s a small gift or even a surprise upgrade. This year was especially memorable. They remembered from last year that we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday and went above and beyond with room decorations, cookies, and candles waiting for her. They even treated her to a special dessert at the tavern, which made her feel so celebrated. A special mention to Will, who our kids absolutely adore and always remember—he truly makes our visits extra special. We are already looking forward to returning for spring break and again in the summer—especially now that they’ve added a pool!
The Arnold House was a wonderful winter weekend getaway. John was so hospitable and went out of his way to accommodate us during our stay. The tavern had excellent food, drinks and atmosphere. We enjoyed playing board games, making s’mores, snowshoeing and the sauna during our stay. The room was cozy and they provided a great spread for breakfast. Would recommend booking your stay!
Loved our stay at Arnold House! We went for a winter weekend away and had such a relaxing, cozy time. The staff were incredible and made the experience so comfortable! We booked the winter spa getaway and I had an incredibly relaxing massage right on site. The Tavern is so cozy and the staff were so friendly. We loved the afternoon cookies and sitting by the fire. Thank you Arnold House!
We had a fantastic snowy weekend at The Arnold House during the big snow storm in January 2026. Will, the General Manager, gave us the option of rescheduling for another weekend or getting snowed in at the hotel, and we chose the latter. It was a great decision. He was incredibly accommodating and fun to chat with. The room was cute and although it got a bit chilly (since it's an old building and it was -5 degrees outside), Will gave us a space heater that made it totally comfortable. The hotel itself is really cozy. Genuinely the perfect place to have a snowy weekend. We took the complementary snowshoes out on the trails, ate well in the tavern downstairs, and kept the fires well-stoked. We will be coming back, and recommend that you do too!
The Arnold House and Foster Supply staff helped us to accomplish the wedding weekend of our dreams! Not only did they go above and beyond for us, we feel like we made friends with them along the way. It was inspiring to see how the staff embodies hospitality from the warm greetings to the last-minute problem solving. We felt safe and taken care of during our entire wedding weekend. In planning, they listened to us and helped us realize our vision for our wedding, not just what they had done in the past. It feels like each wedding they do is unique to the couple. Let's also not forget the FOOD. Our guests said it was the best wedding food they ever had. Chef Brit is a phenomenal talent. She was so accommodating to our dietary restrictions and provided delicious options for everyone. We don't think we could have found a better venue option for us in the area or anywhere else. We absolutely recommend the Arnold House for a wedding weekend or an overnight stay. We plan on visiting here for many years to come!
