Villa Roma Resort & Conference Center consistently receives mixed reviews, highlighting a strong emphasis on family-friendly activities and plentiful amenities, but plagued by dated facilities, inconsistent service, and significant issues with room quality and billing accuracy. Recent issues include miscommunication regarding room types, cleanliness concerns, and unresolved billing discrepancies.

I was initially excited to stay at Villa Roma for one night with my family of four - Brandi Carlile was playing at Bethel Woods, and a 2 bedroom (3 beds total) with shuttle transportation to and from Bethel Woods package seemed like a nice fit! However, our stay was absolutely awful from the beginning, and somehow managed to get worse as we checked out. - Checkin is an at oddly-late 4pm. The checkin was an absolute mob scene. The security guard at the gate directed us to park our car at a remote parking lot and only pull it around to unload after checkin was completed. This seemed a bit strange, but is just the tip of the iceberg - The checkin line was quite long; after 20 minutes in line we checked in and were given room keys. When we got to the room, we were met with two unpleasant surprises: - A pile of dirty sheets on the floor of the room, presumably left by housekeeping - The room we were given was just a 1 bedroom suite, not a 2 bedroom. By this time, the line to speak to someone at the front desk was even longer. I waited it in the line again. They ackknowledged that they gave us the wrong room type. By now it was 5pm, and they said that unfortunately there were no clean 2 bedroom rooms available. They said they'd clean one and call me back when it was ready, but it might be "a while". The problem is that the shuttle to bethel woods was boarding in 20 minutes, and we definitely didn't want to have to move between rooms at 10:30PM when the show was over. I said I'd be willing to stay in the smaller room (much worse sleeping situation, of course) if they could just adjust the rate down to whatever the smaller room would've cost. By this point a manager came along and apologized for their mistake and offered to give me a 40% discount on the room. This was fine by me. He assured me it would happen and that I didn't need to do anything else. With some slight relief at what seemed like a less-than-catastrophic solution, we boarded the shuttle and attended the concert. Props to the shuttle driver Marc who was friendly, safe, and made sure everyone got two and from the venue. When we checked out the following morning, the 40% discount was nowhere to be found. In fact, there's a $187 additional charge for "Misc non taxable Income" on the statement, bringing the cost of the room far higher than what I initially booked. At this point I've paid over $700 for a one night stay in a two bedroom suite , when what I really got was a one bedroom suite with a very musty odor and some extra dirty sheets. I'm just glad that my Villa Roma experience is over, and I don't wish this hotel on anyone else.

I exchanged a timeshare unit to stay here with my family. The entire resort feels like a relic from a bygone era and the property in general is run-down and dingy. While things were clean, there was a general level of shabbiness. I expect some of that from timeshares like this, but Villa Roma was on a level that left me disappointed. The floor in the kitchen area needed replacing, the microwave was a horror and sounded terrible. I reported the microwave and shared the pictures shown here, but nothing was done. The door to the unit looked like it had been forced in at some point. The hallway was smelly, almost like body odor. One of the windows in the bedroom opened but wouldn't close again, so I had to have one of my kids push it shut from outside so I could lock it. While there are scheduled activities, they tended to repeat and were for generally for younger kids. We left after 4 days there even though we had reserved a week. Positive: The pool area was great and had attentive lifeguards. Any staff we interacted with were pleasant. There is a shuttle to help you get around.

We had a blast here this past summer with the entire wife's side of our family getting together here. With the breakfast and dinner all taken care of staying here was a breeze. The kids loved the pool and the bowling alley and the bounce houses. This place has something for everyone.

Traded time at my usual timeshare to come here. Very very disappointing. When we arrived, we had a difficult time finding the timeshares check-in since they're different from the hotel check-ins (we later learned the timeshares are split between 3 companies while the hotel is opened separately). The establishment was a bit unwalkable, too spaced out, and visibly undermaintained. We were at first impressed with the amount of activities, but realized that their sports tournaments attract small crouds and are for a prize of small packets of oreos, which are given as the reward for most of the events. The events, such as trivia, were repeated every day yet poorly executed every time. Early in the week we went to a timeshares owner cheese and wine event. Even though I'm under 21, they let me eat cheese and hang out without issue. As we were talking to the owners, we quickly realized how unhappy everyone was. People were very adament that Villa Roma used to be nice and had taken an unexpected fall. Out of curiocity, I looked up the value of owning a timeshare there, and we learned it was so little that most people give their ownership away for free to avoid the dues. The employees seemed incredibly incompetent, and most of the performers that came were dreadful. The only good performance we saw at Villa Roma was comedian Eric Tartaglione. His set was brilliant; he had the whole room wrapped around his finger. We one time went to the front desk to ask about events, what the events are usually like, etc, and the front desk guy basically told us "not my department, go away." Considering almost all of the events are repeated daily, I'm shocked he didn't know. The food is also pretty overpriced and basic. None of the food there is very good. There is better food in the town nearby (Jeffersonville), including a cute little bakery with a library. There are some good food options in Jeffersonville and Callicoon is a nice little down, but otherwise the area is pretty paltry. We ended up going to Bethal Woods and Scranton while there as we were running out of things to do. It's also worth noting that there is a lot of blatant illegal gambling happening. They advertise poker nights with $25 and $20 buy-ins, bingo with up-to $20 buy-ins, toy horse races, rubber duck races ($5 per duck to put in the race, unlimited buy-ins), and dice games for $3 entry. They do not seem to have a gaming license, allowed all ages to participate in the gambling, and advertised it openly in their daily activities page. During a dice game, I was sitting at a table nearby working while my little sister (way under 21) was playing. The host, Jim, approached me, saw that I was reading on my computer, asked "is that readable porn?" (It was not close to smut, he just saw writing and went straight to this)Then acted sarcastically when I said it was research and said "well that's fun too I guess" in a slightly caustic tone. I wasn't really offended, but it was highly unprofessional and callous either way. On one of the days, they had two large advertisements for restaurants on-site during the 12 pm and 6 pm blocks on the actvities schedule since they seemingly ran out of events. The next day they did the same thing, this time only for lunch. The place was almost exclusively old people, which created a very static environment. Most of the events were dry and tailored for older folks, making it a bad choice for families (poor choice for anyone, but especially for families). The best part of the resort was by far their golf course. The course was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. One of the course employees has an adorable little dog that he brings to the main office every day, so I loved petting him for a little while before golfing. I have absolutely no complaints about the golf course, excellent work there. Otherwise, this place was a total dump. The catskills are beautiful, there are other better resort options. We left 2 days early from our weeks long stay since it was so bad. Couldn't recommend less.

By no means is this meant to be negative. Every resort we have been to in the north east is dated, nice, but dated. Our room was very clean and spacious. The furniture was in very good shape and not very old and the water pressure in the master bathroom was outstanding! Some opportunities: None of the towels were the same color, the phones in the rooms do not work, there are 2 sinks in the Master but only 1 worked, and my wife wished the water got hotter (my son and I were OK with the temp but you will NOT burn yourself, at least in our building. Not a ton going on around the resort but we stayed bust when we wanted to. Major plus- the wifi was very good, some of the best we have experienced. Big picture, depending on the price, it would be hard for me to choose a hotel room over the Villa Roma. The comfort far outweighed the opportunities...

This resort is literally a step back in time. Reminds me of a "Dirty dancing" setting. You will never be hungry here, the meals are served family style for first courses and the dinner plates are plentiful! They have a little bit of everything so most anyone will find something that's makes them happy. Golf course was hilly to say the least but it was is super good condition for playing. Hope to be able to return someday!

You know its a terrible place when all they have is barefoot wine from the gas station. It was outdated, understaffed and not helpful, smelled moldy in room and in the hallways, found bugs in bedroom, you can hear every sound outside of your room including your neighbors TV, many amenities don't happen, broken or closed. Bring cash if you plan on doing anything. Don't trust the website list of activities. We left 2 days earlier in our 4 day stay. Staff didn't bother to ask why cause they know they on a sinking ship. Not worth the price and honestly why hasn't the health inspection closed down this place yet?

The rooms are a bit rustic, but completely functional and clean. I stayed in the timeshares within an efficiency kitchen and a small deck overlooking the resort. When this place was in a heyday, I’m sure it was amazing. However, there’s quite a bit of differed maintenance. The bowling alley, racket sports area and arcade area are in shambles. The location is key as it’s in the center of just about everything and you can do anything from fly fishing the sightseeing to skiing from this location. If you have somebody new to skiing , it’s a perfect hill. reasonably priced, not packed and perfect for younger children to learn.

This is a review for the SKI. The mountain, though small, was very convenient and enjoyable for us. We stayed in a nearby cabin, so we decided to visit. The prices were reasonable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the female teenager staff at the ski rental, who was a bit rude. Apart from that, everything else was great.
