Rest Co. offers a cozy and dog-friendly retreat in a scenic location, highlighted by a lovely pool and fireplaces. While many guests praised the cleanliness, staff, and unique ambiance, some expressed concerns regarding limited amenities and potential issues with dog interactions on the property.
We had a great experience. The bartender was super friendly, made wonderful cocktails and gave us some great suggestions for things to do in town. The chef did a fantastic job. The space was cute, cozy and very clean. My dog loved running freely outside. I truly enjoyed the heated pool it was great and I braved the cold cold weather but the pool was wonderful. I look forward to booking with them again.
My fiancé and I had a fabulous weekend getaway from the city. The hotel was adorable and perfect for a simple weekend. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. The staff was nice and the other guests were fine. The pool outside and the sauna were great. The drive was close to towns with lots to do like in Livingston Manor and Jeffersonville and Roscoe. We went during a snow storm which was fine but getting to and from the hotel was a bit challenging. So be mindful of this when driving. The service was pretty good but it’s quiet. No new towels or making of the beds day to day- things like that. It’s quaint! The bar wasn’t open for a drink on Sunday evening- things like that. If you want an easy and quiet- mostly self serviced get a way- this is the place for you! Only one couple had brought their dog so we didn’t have any dog issues.
I stayed here recently and really enjoyed the big tub offered in my room. The shower was clean and the bed was nice. However, there were a few issues in the lack of basic amenities in the room. No microwave, plates or utensils were provided, despite there being a mini fridge. Which implies a need for food and beverage storage. I stayed for a couple days and brought my own food. I did not anticipate going out for every meal. I wanted to save money and bring some of my own stuff. I inquired about a microwave, which was in the kitchen area of the hotel. Not a big deal to go downstairs, but considering the conditions were not great outside, it wasn’t always possible to run out to the lobby. The walkways were very icy. Also, the garbage provided was extremely small. Housekeeping never came during my visit, so it piled up very quickly. These are just a few simple things that I feel could be improved upon for other visitors. Especially those that are staying for more than a weekend like I did. Other than those small discrepancies, I had a good visit. I really enjoyed the pool and the sauna.
Rooms are clean and staff was very nice. I think the rooms are over priced for what is offered (we had everything we needed-your basic hotel room). The place is nestled in a pretty, quiet spot in the woods. There are fire places and a pool. Breakfast is included.
I booked the cottage for my birthday weekend with my sister, a friend, and my two dogs so they could enjoy some time away from the city to run around. Let me start by saying this place is truly magical. Chris was beyond accommodating and helpful, and makes great cocktails, too! The cottage was absolutely perfect! One star off only because I really wish there were stricter rules in place regarding dogs. Shortly after we checked in, another couple arrived and completely took over the fenced pool area with their two off-leash dogs. Unfortunately, one of their dogs was not friendly. When I tried to bring my dogs out to enjoy the space, theirs became aggressive and essentially bullied mine out. I had to urgently ask the owner to grab his dogs so I could safely get mine out of the way. For context, I also have a reactive dog — but I was mindful of that and only let her out with my other dog when the space was empty. If other dogs came out, I immediately brought her back inside to avoid any issues. It was frustrating that the other owners weren’t equally considerate, and it made it difficult to enjoy the area as intended. Because of this, I was only able to enjoy the fenced-in pool area, which is meant to be a dog-friendly space, for half a day. Once that couple arrived, the area was unusable for us. It even got to the point where I had to politely ask them if I could have a little time in the yard without their dogs present, just so mine could have a chance to be off leash. I understand the purpose of the fenced area, but all guests pay good money to stay here and should be able to enjoy it equally, not worry that other dogs may be aggressive. Owners should certainly take responsibility, but when they don’t, the resort needs clearer parameters or enforcement in place for situations when multiple guests have dogs. This issue put a damper on my trip, since my main reason for booking was to give my dogs space to be safely off leash outdoors while I relaxed by the pool, not to be stuck inside.
I think this place is good at what it does, but that it doesn’t represent itself well in its marketing. It isn’t a dog friendly hotel, it’s a hotel for dogs. During our stay it seemed everyone had brought one or more and they roam the property freely. The back yard space felt more like a dog park than an area to relax in. Many unfamiliar dogs greeting each other made for intermittent noisy barking as well. I had been looking forward to using the fire pit in the evenings, but could only do so one of the two nights, since there weren’t enough seats and, of course, the dogs seem to take priority. I like dogs - I have three! I just wasn’t expecting to them to be so ever-present. Even while eating dinner outside, someone came out to allow their dog to relive himself right in front of our table. The rooms are clean and comfortable and I’m sure this is an ideal location for many. It just wasn’t relaxing for us.
This was a dog vacation for us with our beloved Doug, and all 3 of us could not have had a better time! The property is beautiful, the suite was lovely and comfortable, the food and cocktails and wine were delicious, and Chris made sure we had everything we needed. Loved the 2 fire pits every evening! Highly recommend.
Absolutely loved our stay at RestCo. The location was quiet and great for trails and breweries. The rooms were clean and cute. The best part was the dog friendly grounds allowing our boy to run around without us worrying. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff were friendly, especially towards our pup. The year round pool was a bonus we didn’t know we needed. Will definitely be staying here again.
Stayed here for our 3 night “mini-moon” and booked a suite. Chris (the property manager) notified us that we were upgraded to the cottage it was amazing. We had such a nice quiet and relaxing time which was well needed after our wedding. We will definitely go back when we get the chance again. Chris recommended some nice places and answered any questions we had. It was quiet relaxing and secluded. They had smores kits available and board games in the cottage and lobby . We loved it.
Very pleasant stay this past weekend at Rest Co. The manager Chris surprised us with an upgraded suite because it was my wife’s birthday. And that set the rest of the mood for the getaway. Logs burning, spacious/modern room, inviting heated pool, smores for a snack, lots of land to explore, great bartender, and the food, although limited, was delicious. Drinks were tasteful and made by Val, who provided me with some of the best Mezcal on deck. My wife and I are looking forward to going back and getting rest at Rest Co soon. Thanks again Chris for a comfortable stay.
